To begin utilizing the built-in Text Translation AI Model in PowerApps, there is no need to set up a separate connection or obtain API keys. The model is readily available within the platform, making it easily accessible for all PowerApps users. This eliminates the hassle of external setup and allows for a seamless integration process.

The integration of the built-in Text Translation AI Model into PowerApps is a straightforward process. To implement the translation functionality, you can simply add relevant controls, such as a language selection dropdown and a translation button, directly onto your canvas app.

Step 1: Design the User Interface

Start by designing the user interface of your canvas app. Add the necessary controls to enable language selection and translation. For example, you can include a language dropdown control and a translation button.

Step 2: Configure Language Selection

Next, configure the language selection dropdown control. Bind the control to a data source or populate it with a list of languages supported by the Text Translation AI Model. Consequently, this allows users to choose the desired source and target languages for translation to the built-in model.

The Engineering and Development Group (Edgo) is an international company focused on the energy services sector. Since its inception in 1956, Edgo has grown into a diverse and successful multidisciplinary business, providing oilfield services and support operations to the oil and gas industry in the Middle East and Africa. Edgo was looking for a technology solution to digitize the Travel Expense management, so Nabil Shalan, Senior IT Manager, contacted KAISPE and showed interest in KAISPE Expense Report App developed using Microsoft Power Platform. With its highly flexible and configurable workflow, KAISPE was able to successfully implement the solution resulted in 80% gain in business productivity.

A multi-location organization with complex travel expense management process was facing difficulty managing the expenses

Edgo is a diverse and multidisciplinary company operating in 35 locations in 20 countries. Their experienced teams deliver oilfield services and support operations throughout the Middle East and Africa. Edgo pioneering spirit and resilience has seen us succeed in some of the world’s harshest and most physically complex environments.

Having offices in multiple global locations, Edgo was struggling with managing the business travel expenses. Their current process was manual and too cumbersome. They were not able to itemize the expenses with proper expense categories, approval workflow was manual with lots of paperwork, hard copies of receipts were maintained for expenses and above all, manual control on expenses was present. Since Edgo has been using Microsoft Dynamics ERP as their backend business application, they had a mandatory requirement to integrate Expense Management with the ERP.

While looking for a technology solution to digitize the expense management process, Nabil came across KAISPE Expense Report app on Microsoft AppSource. Founded in 2018, KAISPE focuses on helping customers with their digital transformation journey by using Microsoft technology, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Dynamics and the Microsoft Power Platform. After the very first Product Demo, Nabil was impressed with how KAISPE app was offering highly configurable approval workflow with flexible expense control policies.

Strong internal control on expenses with configurable policies

KAISPE app provides a configurable way to define expense policies with custom violation messages to the app user based on expense categories and keeps audit history of any violations occurred. Edgo was able to define their own expense policies resulted in strong internal control in place.

“Using KAISPE app, we were able to achieve the internal control we wanted to above and beyond. Audit history against each violation on expense reports helps us getting insights to further improve this control”, Nabil said.

Highly flexible expense itemization and approval workflow

Edgo required its employees to provide a detailed breakdown of expenses incurred during a travel trip. Using KAISPE Expense Report app, users were able to select the expense category along with relevant subcategory on expense entry making it possible to report the expense on a more granular level.

Edgo had a very complex workflow requirement for expense review that involved multiple personas on multiple locations. Thanks to the underlying Microsoft Power Automate workflow platform strength, KAISPE app offered configurable workflow options to cater these requirements. With the workflow configuration implemented, Edgo was able to achieve the desired automation along with a strong notification mechanism and flexibility for reviewers to review the expense report using Email, Microsoft Teams and other mediums.

“We were amazed with some of the very unique features that KAISPE Travel Expense app provides, like approval workflow, policy management, receipt capturing in real time and expense itemization. The solution has greatly help us achieving the end-end business integration.”, Nabil Shalan, Edgo.

Figma can absolutely be used for UX design and many designers are already using it for that purpose. Figma has excellent vector-based design tools, an easy-to-use interface, and great collaboration features–all of which make it ideal for designing prototypes.

The gap between design and development is not easily filled. In fact, some agile teams might even go without one or the other. With design apps like Figma or coding platforms like the Microsoft Power Platform, citizen designers and developers — as well as their teams — are empowered to be leaner teams, move faster and accelerate the project timelines.

In this blog, I will create Micrsoft PowerApps from Figma design. Designer can create design in Figma using Create Apps from Figma UI kit. which provides supported components for Power Apps and includes detailed instructions for how to use the kit. Once the designs are created, simply provide the link to the Figma design file and Power Apps will generate a new canvas app based on those designs. The design frames are automatically converted into screens in Power Apps.

Step 1 :

Login to Figma and select Create Apps from Figma UI kit and start create your app design.

Step 2:

Now you can create your design on Figma either it is a form screen or title screen for your PowerApps. I just design a form in Figma which contains components like Textbox, Dropdown, Labels and Buttons.

Step 3:

After Finalize your app design, go to setting to generate token and copy .

Step 4:

Now login to Microsoft PowerApps, go to home.Select Figma (Preview)

Step 5:

Give name of your app, Paste Figma token and URL which copied from Figma and select format according to your app design.

It takes time for getting things ready for you to convert Figma design to PowerApps.

Here it is, this is how easy to convert your UI UX design from Figma to PowerApps along with their controls.

Testing applications an integral part of the development process. But, how can the team guarantee a successful testing process? Now, in this article, I will give you some tips and ideas to help you achieve that.

The secret to a good application is QA and QC. When done correctly, it minimizes potential risks such as security, performance, functional, non-functional, and incompatibilities between platforms.

When it comes to applications, even the smallest problems can turn into a nightmare. Thus, it is important to perform rigorous application testing before deployment. So here are some ideas to improving product’s testing.

Microsoft Power Pages testing

Applications are more than just information-based websites. Increasing size and complexity, as well as shortening the agile development cycle and repetitive changes in requirements present many QA and testing challenges.

Focus on cross-browser compatibility testing

Version control of test cases in test management tools

Usability testing, the power pages flow is tested so that a new user can understand it easily

Microsoft Dataverse testing includes performing data validity, data integrity testing, performance check related to database and testing of procedures, triggers and functions within it

Select the appropriate parameters for your ease of use test

Evaluate application performance under different conditions

Verify all security issues with security tests

Exploratory testing into the software development life cycle

Application testing revolves around these checklists:

1. Functionality testing:
This step verifies that the functionality of your application is working properly. Functional testing is done in source code.

2. Usability testing:
This test type focuses on the user experience when using a particular wapplication. Efforts are being made to build the application according to the needs of the user. This test method is a key to ensuring that users can easily navigate the various features of the application. The content displayed in the application also needs to be clearly visible.

3. UI testing:
One of the most important interfaces within a application is the server and application server interface and the database server interface. UI tests ensure that all individual components within a application are properly connected. You should use this test method to verify that the interactions between these servers are performing properly.

4. Compatibility testing:
This test method ensures that a particular application is compatible with all browsers. Compatibility testing is done at three levels: browser compatibility, operating system compatibility, and device compatibility.

5. Performance testing:
Here, we are testing how well a particular application can perform under stress and heavy loads. Also consider how your application can run at different internet speeds, networks, and browsers. Stress testing is a form of testing used to determine the amount of stress a application can receive before it fails. Also, how the application runs when running in different hardware configurations, and what mechanisms need to be strategic to prevent the application from crashing? All the above aspects are thoroughly scrutinized and tested within the scope of performance testing.

6. Security testing:
This test method is one of the most important methods for web applications, regardless of whether data leaks or changes are tolerable. This typically includes testing CAPTCHA to automate script login, testing SSL for security measures, and having direct access to web directories or files.

Conclusion:

Even with all these best practices, we should not miss the functional, structural and regression testing of the application. However, of course, some of the companies are always focusing on these and ignoring the rest. Defective applications not only appear to be unreliable, but also negatively impact on business efforts, leading to higher costs and lower business reputation. By following the above methods for testing applications, companies can significantly reduce risk and provide the highest quality apps.

This article will help you to create a test case using the Test studio terminology. This post presents a selection of test recording techniques every tester should consider in an effort to build a more stable, reliable and easily maintainable automated test suite.

Introduction

It does not matter if you are a programmer, tester, or end user involved in application development. We will not release the application until we understand that all parts work together. Integration or end-to-end (E2E) testing. In fact, the only important test is the E2E test. This proves that the application can successfully complete the entire business transaction.

The problem is that you may have time to run one E2E test in one release, but you do not have time to repeat every E2E test every time you make a change to your application, or even in every release. At least, you do not have time to manually repeat those tests.

Therefore, here is how to integrate Test Studio into your testing process, including how to handle common problems that are part of using automated E2E regression testing tools.

Overview

Power Apps Test Studio is a low-code solution for creating, organizing and automating tests for canvas apps. In Test Studio, you can use Power Apps expressions to create tests, or you can use a recorder to save your app’s operations and automatically generate expressions. You can also play tests written within Test Studio to verify the functionality of your app, run tests in a web browser, or incorporate automated tests into your app’s deployment process.

Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/test-studio

How does it work?

For this case study, I am going to use a sample application, which we created on Canvas app.

Steps

Before test cases creation, an error will be occurred. “Enable error management in your app”

To resolve the above error, Go to the app settings > Select the Upcoming features > in Experimental tab, enable the Formula-level error management.

Now click on the Open tests button.

In order to create Test cases, we have to create a Test suite in which all test cases are coming which is showing by default.

You can create multiple test cases in a suite and you can also add multiple suites based on your requirement.

Now click on Record button.

Process the steps for the first time manually and complete it.

After completion, the all action will be showing it which were performed manually.

On test case completion, now we need to publish it.

Note: Before publishing it, make sure that you have to Save the app for publishing.

Play test case

Now, click on Play button to start the test case process automation.

The negative record have been submitted through the automate process.

Now copy these lines and paste them into WebApiConfig.

using System.Web.Http.OData.Builder;

using System.Web.Http.OData.Extensions;

using odatacustomconnector.Models;

And on the method, paste these lines of code. We are using only one entity, you can add more according to your need.

ODataConventionModelBuilder builder = new ODataConventionModelBuilder();

builder.EntitySet<PM00200>(“PM00200”);

config.Routes.MapODataServiceRoute(“odata”, “odata”, builder.GetEdmModel());

Your WebApiConfig file code looks like below
